You Give Me a Feeling I Can’t Describe

Posted by tpegonline on September 9, 2016

Below is a sonnet that I wrote while on the train ride home last night.

I have a few song titles in this poem, so I’ve hyperlinked them to their respective YouTube videos for a multimedia experience.

I hope that you enjoy the poem.

My wax wings melt as I fly to the sun.

Striving to earn unconditional love.

Your teary eyes make your mascara run.

I’ve been a war hawk, but you’ve been a dove.

Your soft touch and sweet words are soothing.

You raise me up. You make me feel brand new.

I thought to quit, but you kept me moving.

When we met, I knew not what would ensue.

You bring me joy beyond expectation.

Pride and pleasure to have you at my side.

Kissing you is such a sweet sensation.

No mountain too high, no river too wide.

You’re nice to look at and I dig your vibe.

You give me a feeling I can’t describe.

Lord! Jamaica Nice!

Posted by tpegonline on October 15, 2012

This 16-part haiku chain is dedicated to all of the lovely women from Jamaica.

As is my custom, all song titles are hyperlinked to their respective audio files on GrooveShark.com.

Enjoy!

Girl, I love you like
cooked food. Finger-licking and
so aromatic.

Sweet like gizzada
and so spicy like a jerk
chicken dish, honey.

You are so very
strong, like our ancestors of
old. Cool under stress.

When things get tough, you
say, “Every little thing is
gonna be alright.”

What a comfort you
are to me. You Satisfy
My Soul
. I love you.

Your character is
reflected in your country’s
flag: black; green; and gold.

Black is for all of
the adversity that you’ve
overcome in life.

Green represents hope
and the fertile field of your
mind, Body & Soul.

The gold is for your wealth
of knowledge and radiance
of your sunny smile.

You are so sexy.
You Turn Me On and light my
fire. My heart races.

I’m a Yankee boy,
but if I was Jamaican,
here’s what I would say:

Gal Yuh Good. Me
like the way yuh wind. Yuh make
want to Ram Dancehall.

Me wan to sip on
a bottle of Dragon Stout
and love you long time.

Nibble on you so
like yuh bun and cheese. We be
Jammin.

You say dat me is
the Don Dada cuz
I’m Wicked In Bed.Truth.

What a beautiful
life wit me beautiful wife.
Lord! Jamaica Nice!
