I Hope He Fails…So I Can Have You Back

Posted by tpegonline on September 21, 2016

I hope you enjoy this sonnet inspired by R&B singer, Joe and his latest single, “So I Can Have You Back.” A hyperlink to the YouTube video of this song appears at the end of the poem. Also, the painting below is called Piano Man II, by Justin Bua. Please support this artist’s work.

As I think back on our relationship,
I admit that its failure was my fault.
I so thirst for you and long for a sip.
When I call you, you remind me to halt.

Time was a commodity I wasted.
I should have spent it with you more often.
This pill is the most bitter I’ve tasted.
The crushing pain in my heart won’t soften.

Is he that good to you? Man of your dreams?
A good listener with tender, sweet words?
Sometimes things aren’t as good as it seems.
I hear that you two are like two love birds.

Joe’s song helped me understand what I lack.
I hope he fails…so I can have you back.

Is the Grass Greener?

Posted by tpegonline on June 28, 2012

This poem is a series of 10 haiku poems that are strung together in a series to tell a story. I call this style that I created a haiku chain poem. According to Dictionary.com, a haiku is a major form of Japanese verse, written in 17 syllables divided into 3 lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables, and employing highly evocative allusions and comparisons, often on the subject of nature or one of the seasons; or a poem written in this form.

This poem is about a guy who has has lost the love of his life to another man. All he wants to know is “Why?”

Also, for your listening pleasure, I hyperlinked song titles to their respective audio files on GrooveShark.com.

You’ll find that I was in a DeBarge kind-of mood when I wrote this poem.

Enjoy the poem.

Is he more handsome?
Does he drive a nicer car?
He makes six figures?

Is his scent nicer?
Are his kisses hotter and
sweeter? Please tell me.

Does he make love to
you better making you scream
louder and more often?

Is his cooking so
good that your mouth waters? Does
he feed it to you?

Could it be that his
surprises make you far more
happier than mine?

So, he looks better
in his tailor-made suits and
his imported shoes?

Do you love him more?
Are you sure he loves you as
much as I do? Huh?

I love you so much
that I will let you go. Just
be happy, my love.

Time Will Reveal if
you truly have his whole heart.
I know you have mine.

Babe, All This Love
is Waiting for You
. Tell me,
is the grass greener?
